Had a really fantastic time this weekend at the Trowbridge Village Pump Festival. It was great meeting lots of wonderful people and sharing the chilled atmosphere.
We played on the Open Mic stage, which was great fun. Thanks to everyone who came and watched us, whether you came to see us play or just happened to catch us, I hope you enjoyed what you heard. Hopefully some of you who got a CD have found your way here, so welcome to our website.
My musical highlights were, in no particular order and not limited to, Show of Hands, The Cedar, The Blockheads, Bellowhead, Sam Brooks, The Crooked Fiddle Band. Check them out if you get a chance (I would put links in, but I'm not that clever).
Having enjoyed watching so many great bands, I now can’t wait to get back out playing, so Friday can’t come soon enough. Hopefully see lots of people at out gigs over the summer.

    Success is relative
Posted by Phil (14 Jul 2010)
Thanks to all you lovely people, two of our videos on youtube have just hit the 1000 views mark. The video for our latest single "Rejoin the Race" managed this in under two months, which is something we're quite proud of. The other video to reach 1000 views was "Your Question Is Important", which we put on youtube a year ago. We're dead chuffed that our newest release achieved this feat in a 6th of the time of the older release, and we've got all you lot to thank for that.

If you've not seen the videos, Rejoin the Race is HERE and Your Question is Important is HERE.

All this brings me on to the topic of achievements and success. A while ago I posted a blog about why we're not interested in the traditional record company route that many bands consider to be the definition of success. Well since I wrote that piece, several of my favourite bands have dropped their record companies and taken the independent route (eg. OK Go, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Wilco). While it's true that all these bands have built their current fanbase whilst signed to a major label, I think it shows an interesting movement in the music business. Bands are much more able and willing to go it alone.

Once you've made the step and declared your independence, the goalposts are completely moved. This makes you redefine the word success, I've written a song recently which contains the line "Success is relative" and I stand by that. To start with you need to sell fewer albums (I think it's about 10% of what you'd need to sell while signed) in order to cover costs.

For us (at the moment), Rejoin The Race reaching the top 10 amazon rock downloads, even for only one hour, is an achievement. Reaching 1000 views of a video in under 2 months is an achievement. Every single new person who "likes" us on facebook, every mailinglist sign up, every time someone views a video, or sends us a nice email, is an achievement.

Of course we're ultimately aiming for even bigger and better things, but along the way, we'll celebrate all the little successes, because that's what gives us the drive to move onward and achieve even more.

    Album Launch
Posted by Bert (11 Jun 2010)
Thank you to everyone who came to our album launch last night at Peewee’s. We had a great time and hope you did too. Let us know which is your favourite of our news songs, we’d be interested to know. It was really good to see so many familiar faces and catch up. Also thank you to all the people who couldn’t be there but sent us messages of support, we really appreciate it, and hopefully we’ll see all of you lovely people soon.
The album goes on general release on Monday 14th, available from our website and most legal download sites, so please spread the word.

    Exciting times
Posted by Phil (29 Apr 2010)
I've got an exciting month coming up, personally and band related.

Excite number one is that I'm finally moving in to my new house. This will be my first step on the property ladder, and with one room being set aside as a music room, it should mean increased creativity too!

As well as that I'm due to pick up my new car in approximately two hours time! My old car died on my last week, so this is more of an emergency purpose, but still!

In terms of band exitement, we're thrilled to be getting back on the road, with several gigs during May.

You might also have noticed that our new single "Rejoin The Race" is being released on 17th May. This is the first time we've done a proper "single" release and we're quite hopeful.

Our street team has set up a facebook group to try and get the new single in to the charts (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=118473481505509), so please spread the word about that. I'll be recording a special live version of the song exclusively for that group, so watch out.

The traditional way to start a blog... Sorry it's been a while!

On the surface it might look a little like nothing's happening at the moment, but in reality we're busy behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly for the single/album release.

You might have noticed the gig list start to build up again. We're very excited about playing live again, since we've both missed it and we're eager to play the new songs to you.

That's all I've got for you at the moment, but keep your eyes on the website/myspace/facebook etc for news.
